So what could be a better issue for my first journal entry than Star Trek, the series I've grown up with and always loved?
I'm a huge fan of the films, the original TV-series and Star Trek: TNG . I wasn't sure what to expect on the new movie: on the one hand I was very sceptical because of new actors, new themes...and last, but not least I was very unsure if the charme of the original series could be held in the movie. On the other hand I was happy to hear that Eric Bana would be a part of the new movie - I love him since Troy where he did this amazing job as Hector.
Firstly, I even didn't know if I'd like to watch the new movie in the cinemas. However, I read some really good critics about it, so I summoned up all my courage and reserved a ticket for the pre-premiere here in Germany.
And what shall I say: GO! WATCH IT!
I don't know how Not-Trekkies see this film, so I can tell just from my point of view.
I would give the film 8 of 10 points, but I really will take another look (this time with my parents) on it

.
I was impressed how charming and funny the new movie was and how well the actors filled in their roles. Above all, I have to mention Chris Pine, someone I've never heard of before and I was very sceptical about. But he just blow me away - a perfect young Kirk, the right mixture between this strong character who really cares about his people and the young Hotspur, arrogant but charming.
Karl Urban also did very well (I knew him as Éomer from LOTR before) as Leonard "Bones" McCoy. And I loved Simon Pegg as Scotty.
Where I really had tears in my eyes was when Leonard Nimoy had his first appearance on screen. It was so...beautiful as if you'd come home from a long journey.
There were many nice things for Trekkies in it: For example why McCoy is named Bones or why he and Spock are always squabbling.
The only thing I was disappointed of, were (hard to believe, I know) Eric Bana and the Romulans. I watched Star Trek VI yesterday and I have to say, compared to other villains, for example General Chang or Khan they just remained colourless. Nero, for example, did not cause any emotions in me.
But well, all in all: this film is really worth watching it, especially if you're interested in "Star Trek"!
Nighty is neugierig!!!
Ich hoffe aber, sie im Januar wieder mitnehmen zu können und dann gibts hoffentlich Bilder *g*
